Tried by three women from Spain on their first trip to Japan — and their first time in an izakaya. Every reaction from the guests who experienced this restaurant is on video.

Verdict: A seafood izakaya on the 3rd floor of Shibuya Stream, directly connected to Shibuya Station.
Our guests had a six-fish sashimi platter, A4 wagyu with watercress salad, a grilled donko shiitake, ham katsu, sea bream rice cooked in a clay pot, and a matcha tiramisu — at lunchtime.
Dinner runs about ¥4,000–¥4,999 per person.
Best for: first-time visitors who want a real izakaya meal without leaving the station building, and anyone who wants sashimi in Shibuya.

About this review

We are a Japanese team (YouTube: Amazing Japanese Food!) that takes real overseas guests to restaurants across Tokyo and films the meal.
Every quote in this review is taken word-for-word from the video. Impressions are our guests’ real, unedited reactions.
This time our guests were three women from Spain, friends since kindergarten, nine days into their first trip to Japan.
They had already eaten a lot of sushi, soba and onigiri, but this was their first izakaya — and none of them had tried wagyu before.
We visited at lunchtime. In the evening the restaurant is more of a drinking bar, with a long sake list.

🥇 If you order only one thing: the assorted sashimi platter

Six kinds of fish on one plate (around 6:00 in the video)

Tuna, bonito, horse mackerel, flounder, sea bream and Spanish mackerel.
Our guests went through the plate one fish at a time, with three different things to dip in: wasabi, ginger paste, and a plum-and-sake sauce.
The bonito got “Amazing, amazing.”
The horse mackerel got “Perfect.”

The restaurant has a long drinks list, so we suggested a first drink.
What we often recommend is plum wine, a sweet liqueur, and all three chose it on the rocks.
It was the first plum wine of their lives.

“It’s very sweet.”

Assorted sashimi platter — お刺身盛り合わせ

Tuna, bonito, horse mackerel, flounder, sea bream and Spanish mackerel (around 6:00 in the video)

The first fish was bonito, seared on the outside and raw inside — that is why the edge is dark, we explained.
Then the ginger paste, which is used like wasabi for bonito.
Next came a sauce that is rare even in Japan: irizake, a roasted sake with plum, with no alcohol left in it, for the white fish.
Then horse mackerel, tuna eaten wrapped in a shiso leaf, and sea bream to finish.

The bonito with ginger (around 7:10 in the video)

“Amazing, amazing.”
“Very good, very good, very good. Really delicious.”
“It’s very good. It has a nice texture.”
“It has a stronger flavor, but I like. Very tasty. Perfect.”
💡 Ordering tip:
Try the irizake sauce with the white fish. The shiso leaf on the plate is not decoration — eat it with the tuna.

A4 wagyu with watercress salad — A4和牛とクレソンサラダ

Sliced wagyu on a bed of watercress (around 14:12 in the video)

None of the three had ever eaten wagyu before.
The beef went first, then the watercress underneath it.
One guest said the salad reminded her of something, and settled on “aromatic.”

First wagyu of their lives (around 14:30 in the video)

“Very tasty. Tasty. Very, very tasty.”
“It’s very aromatic.”
“Very refreshing.”

Grilled donko shiitake — どんこ椎茸

One thick shiitake, seasoned with soy sauce (around 16:20 in the video)

A single, thick-capped shiitake, already seasoned, eaten with a little ginger.
The guests recognised the taste from the miso soup they had been eating on the trip.
It also started a conversation: where they live in Spain is close to the mountains, and on Sunday mornings they go and pick mushrooms themselves.

Ham katsu — ハムカツ

Thick ham katsu with karashi mustard and cabbage (around 17:50 in the video)

One of the typical izakaya dishes.
First with the sauce, then with Japanese mustard, to find the difference.
The shredded cabbage on the side is for refreshing the palate.
None of the guests had heard the word “katsu” before, so we explained: crispy outside.

“Very different with the mustard. Very good, very good.”
“Really good.”

A whole sea bream, head and all, on rice cooked with dashi in a clay pot.
One guest immediately called it “Japanese paella.”
The staff took the pot away, removed the bones, mixed the fish into the rice and brought it back.
It also came up that in Spain rice is the first dish, while in a Japanese izakaya rice is usually the last.

Rice at the end of the meal (around 23:30 in the video)

“This is Japanese paella.”
“Spain, we eat the rice in the first dish. Here it’s maybe the last dish.”

Dessert came in a small square wooden box.
We explained that the box is a masu, normally used for drinking sake.
All three took photos.
